Whale Watching Tour
Every year the Humpback Whales leave the icy waters that surround the Antarctic continent in search of warmer and calmer waters, to reproduction. From July to October, they are near to Morro de São Paulo, where it is possible to take a look at their habits and observe mother whales together with their babies.
This day-trip is a partnership with the Instituto Baleia Jubarte, an organization engaged in researching and preserving these mammals. By taking this trip, you are collaborating with the environmental awareness education, scientific researches and preservation of this wonderful species.
11:00 - Introductory lecture about the Humpback Whale.
11:30 - Departure to the open sea in search for the whales.
The trip is very similar to a safari. The open sea is the whale's natural habitat, so it is not possible to assure a sighting, although it happens almost every time. However, the behavior of the whales is unpredictable. Because of that there is a set of rigid rules to prevent the whales from being disturbed.
15:00 - Return to Morro de São Paulo harbour.
Other disclosures
- The whales are wild animals living in their natural habitat, so it is not possible to assure the sighting.
- The trip may be canceled if the sea does not meet the required conditions.
- This trip is only possible from July to October, when the Humpback Whales are in the region.
- Sickness preventive medication is recommended.
