Yoga is an ancient tradition from India that besides being a sport is also a philosophy of life. The elements most used in Yoga are the Mantras - the vocalization (sounds), the Asana (physical exercises) and Pranayama (breathing exercises). Yoga works with the body and mind through breathing techniques and exercises.
Yoga practices develop the physical and mental balance, the increase of strength, muscle toning and flexibility. It also teaches a correct breathing and fosters the concentration. The idea is to be practiced in a quiet and well ventilated place. Some people like calm music during the practice. People should wear light and comfortable cloth with no shoes. Preferably avoid heavy food before the class.
The instructor, Patrícia Benavidez, follows the Sattva Yoga line, but also complements the practices with the other Yoga lines and techniques in order to make classes more dynamic and pass to the practitioners other styles of Yoga.
In order to collaborate with the community in Morro de São Paulo, part of the value paid in the Yoga classes will be reverted to purchasing of children's books for the community library, which is located in the Rota Tropical tourism Operator.
